Magadi Main Road is always a bit of a scramble with the traffic and people moving about. We have been operating here at number 50 for a good while now, specifically around the 17 mark. It isn't a very fancy setup, just a straightforward place for people to stay when they are passing through. Most of our days start with a quick check of the rooms and making sure the laundry guy has picked up the sheets from the day before. The noise from the road never really stops, but after a few months, you barely hear the horns anymore. We have a small crew of guys from the neighborhood who handle the desk and the cleaning. We don't have a big corporate office or a marketing department. It is mostly just us keeping track of the keys and answering the phone when it rings. People come here for work usually, staying a night or two before heading out again. We spend a lot of time just making sure the water is running right and the bulbs are changed. It is practical work. Sometimes we sit out front in the evening when things quiet down a bit and just watch the street. We’ve seen this area change a lot since we started. There are more buildings now and less space, but we just keep doing what we have always done. It’s a busy life, but it works for us and the people who stop by.
