Star Bricks

If you go down to 79B1 in Sombarpeth, you will find Star Bricks. We are located in the Tilak Wadi area of Belgaum district. It’s a pretty straightforward setup here. We have a big yard where we keep all the bricks stacked up in rows. It is a very earthy place, as you can imagine, with the smell of clay and dust always in the air. When the trucks come to load up, the whole place gets even more active. We have a few guys who handle the heavy lifting, and they’ve gotten very fast at it over the years. We don't do much in the way of advertising; people usually just hear about us from their neighbors or contractors who have used our bricks before. The weather really dictates our day. If it’s pouring rain, things slow down a lot because the yard gets muddy and moving the heavy loads becomes a mess. We have a small shack that serves as our office where we keep the books and take payments. It’s nothing special to look at, just a practical place to sit down for a minute. Most of the time, we are outside checking the stock or talking to drivers. It’s a simple business, but it keeps us busy from sunrise until the evening when we lock the gates and head back to our families. It is a long day's work.
