S K Rice

S K Rice is our small operation located at 58-31 on Jamboti Road in Peeranwadi. We’ve been working out of this space for quite some time now. The main thing we do here is handle rice—loading it, storing it, and selling it to the people who come by. Peeranwadi is a decent area to work in, and being on the main road to Jamboti means we get a lot of transport vehicles passing through our gates. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy, functional place to keep the grain dry and safe from the rain or pests. We spend a lot of our time checking the quality of the bags and making sure everything is stacked properly so nothing falls over or gets damaged. It’s dusty work, and you definitely end up with rice husks on your clothes by the end of every shift. We have a few regulars from the neighborhood who come to buy their monthly supply of rice from us. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us doing the heavy lifting and keeping track of the inventory in our books. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially if it gets very humid, but we manage to get through it. We aren't a big factory or a corporate entity. It’s just a local business where we focus on one thing and try to do it right. If you’re driving down Jamboti Road, you’ll see our gate and the bags piled up inside. We just keep our heads down and work.
