Hanuman Tea Club

Down in Village Awargol, things are pretty straightforward for us. We are near the Old Bus Stand, not too far from the Hukeri Post Office. Hanuman Tea Club is basically where we spend all our time. It’s a simple building where we gather the tea from the local area. The floors are concrete and they get really cold in the winter months. We don't have any fancy heaters or anything. We just wear thicker sweaters and keep moving. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the village and the people well. The bus stand always has people coming and going, which makes it feel less lonely. We spend a lot of time weighing bags and checking quality. Sometimes the scales act up and we have to fix them ourselves with a bit of tapping. It isn't a high-tech operation. We use pens and paper for most of our notes and logs. The post office workers come by sometimes for a chat when they have a break. It’s a small community and we all know each other’s business. We just do our work and go home to our families when the day is over. Some days the tea is great, other days it’s just okay. That's just how it goes with nature and the seasons. We don't try to pretend we are bigger than we are. It’s just a small club in a small village.
