Archana Rice & Pulse Mill

Archana Rice & Pulse Mill is located in Village Ankala. We are very close to the Nageswari Mata Mandir, so most people use the temple as a landmark to find us. It’s a quiet village for the most part, except for when our machines are running. We process both rice and pulses here, which keeps us busy all year round since the seasons for those crops are different. The mill has been here for a long time and the building shows its age a little bit, but it is strong and it keeps the rain out. We have a small group of workers from the local village who know exactly how to handle the grain. We don't have a big office or a fancy sign out front. Most of our work is done in the main shed where the air is thick with the smell of dry husks. It’s hard on the lungs sometimes, so we try to keep things ventilated as much as possible. We aren't interested in being some big national company. We just want to serve the local farmers and the people around here. We handle the bags by hand and load them onto the trailers ourselves. It is physical work and we are usually pretty tired by the time we lock up in the evening. We just focus on getting the grain cleaned and ready for the market without any extra fuss.
