About Mamula National Public School – Education in Basti
Out here in Itwa, things move at their own speed. We’ve set up our school to serve the local families around the Sidhart Nagar area. It’s a plain building, nothing that would really stand out from a distance, but it’s where we spend all our time. The classrooms are filled with the usual wooden furniture and the smell of old paper and pencil shavings. We don't have a lot of expensive equipment, but we make do with what we have on hand. Most of the kids walk to school or come on their cycles from the nearby villages. The mornings are always the loudest part of the day when everyone is greeting each other in the yard. We have a small staff who have been with us for a long time now. There’s no big corporate office or anything like that. Just a small wooden desk near the entrance where we handle the fees and the daily paperwork. Sometimes we have to deal with power cuts, so we just open the windows wide and keep going with the lessons. The yard isn't huge, but it's enough for the kids to run around for twenty minutes during their break. We don't spend any money on fancy brochures or advertisements. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here for years. It’s a quiet life mostly, and we are just trying to help the local kids get through their exams. It’s an honest place with no extra fluff added to it.
