Deepak Brick Field

Deepak Brick Field is out in Village Satehara, which is part of the Nath Nagar Tehsil in Sant Kabeer Nagar. It’s a rural spot, very different from the city offices. Out here, we’re governed by the seasons more than anything else. When the monsoon hits, everything slows down because you can’t dry bricks in the rain. But when it’s dry, we’re working from sunrise. The kilns are always going, and there’s a specific smell of burning wood and earth that stays with you. We have a lot of local workers from the village who have been making bricks for generations. It’s hard labor, standing in the sun and moving heavy loads. We don't have a website or any big marketing plans. People just know where the field is. We’re just a local business trying to provide for our families. I spend my days walking around the site, checking the rows and talking to the guys. We have to make sure the fire in the kiln is just right. If it’s too hot or too cool, the bricks are ruined. It’s a lot of responsibility but we enjoy the work. We’re proud of the bricks that come out of Satehara. They’ve built a lot of the houses you see around Sant Kabeer Nagar. It’s just honest, basic work that we do every single day without any shortcuts or polish.
