Bagha Saloon

Batanagar is a busy spot. Bagha Saloon is right there by the Station Road. It’s a small shop, but we keep it busy. The chairs are old but they work fine. We see a lot of the same faces every week coming in for a trim or a shave. It gets really crowded on Sunday mornings when everyone is off work. We usually have the radio playing some music or just the news. There’s a lot of talk about local things, football, or the weather. Mallick Bazar is just a short walk away so there’s always people passing by the door. Sometimes people just stop in to say hello even if they don't need a haircut. The station being close means we get some travelers too. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we have the fans going. We use the usual stuff, scissors, razors, and some hair creams. It’s not a place where you get anything too fancy, just a regular cut. We’ve been at this Nungi location for a good amount of time. You get to know everyone's name and how they like their hair done. It’s a simple life. We open up early and close when the last person leaves. Sometimes we’re tired by the end of it but it’s good to be part of the neighborhood. The floor is always covered in hair by mid-day and we’re constantly sweeping it up so it stays somewhat clean for the next person.
