Asirbad Saloon

You can find Asirbad Saloon on Boral Main Road in Garia, Kolkata. We are located near the Garia Sitala Mandir, which is a big landmark for everyone around here. You can often hear the bells from the temple during the day. Our shop has been part of this community for a long time. It’s a simple setup with a few chairs and those old-fashioned wooden cabinets for our bottles and combs. The floor is tiled but a bit worn down from years of people walking in and out. We don't have air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that spin around all day long. In the summers, it gets quite hot, but nobody seems to mind much. We talk about the local news, the price of fish, or whatever else is happening in the neighborhood. It’s a place where people come to relax for a bit while they get a trim or a head massage. We use traditional razors and we take our time with the shaves because rushing leads to nicks. There’s no rush here. We know most of our customers by name and we know how they like their hair done without them even asking us. The shop is small and it gets a bit cramped during the holidays when everyone wants to look their best for the festivals. We just keep working through the queue one person at a time. It’s a quiet life and we are happy to be a part of Garia.
