We are right here on Bhagwandas Marg, practically next to the PNB Bank. Being so close to the bus station means there's always someone moving around outside. We make a lot of different things by hand. It’s how it’s been done in this area for a long time. Mostly we work with wood or fabric, depending on what people are asking for lately. It’s a bit dusty in the shop sometimes because we’re constantly sanding or cutting something. We don't have a big fancy showroom. It's just a space where we work and show what’s ready. Sometimes people stop by while waiting for their bus just to see what we're making. We try to keep things traditional because that’s what we know how to do. My brother and I manage most of it. We don't use big machines much, mostly hand tools that have been in the family. It takes longer that way, but the result looks different than what you get at a big store. Every piece has its own small mistakes, which is how you know it wasn't made by a computer. It's a quiet life mostly, just making things and talking to whoever walks in from the street. We’ve been at this spot for years and don't plan on moving. Sometimes the rain makes the wood swell, or the humidity affects the dyes, but we just work through it. It’s better than sitting in an office all day.
