Shri Hair Saloon

Our shop is right in Meerganj, which is a part of Bareilly that stays fairly busy. It is a traditional hair saloon for men. We have the usual wooden cabinets and a few chairs that have been with us for a long time. The mirrors have a bit of aging on the edges, but you can see yourself just fine. In Meerganj, everyone knows everyone, so it’s rarely just a quiet haircut. There’s always someone talking about local politics or what’s happening at the market. We use simple tools, mostly scissors and old-style razors. It’s a skill passed down through the family, I suppose. The street outside can be quite noisy with scooters and people walking by, but we are used to it by now. We don't have any air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that hums along all day. It’s a practical place for a practical town. We don’t do anything too complicated, just standard cuts and shaves for the working men of Bareilly. Sometimes on Sundays, the line gets long and people wait out on the steps. It’s just how a local business works in a place like this. We keep things clean as best we can and try to make sure everyone leaves looking better than they did. It’s a steady job and we like being part of the Meerganj community.
