Pankaj Bakery & General Store

Pankaj Bakery & General Store is located in Shubham Market, which is on the Collectoriate Road. It is a pretty good spot because a lot of people come through the market for various reasons. The first thing you notice when you come near our place is the smell of the biscuits and bread we have. We try to keep things fresh, but it is a small operation so we only make a certain amount each day. Besides the bakery items, we have all the regular stuff you would expect from a general store. We have rows of jars with candies and different types of flour and pulses. The shelves are made of wood and they have been there since we opened. They are starting to show their age a bit, but they hold up the weight just fine. Collectoriate Road is always busy with government workers and people running errands, so we get a good lunch crowd looking for a quick snack. We don't have a lot of space for people to sit, so most just buy what they need and go on their way. Shubham Market has its own rhythm and we are just a small part of it. We take pride in the stuff we bake, even if we don't talk about it much. It’s a busy life, keeping both the bakery and the store side of things going. We usually finish the baking early and then spend the rest of the day minding the counter and talking to the regulars.
