Pankaj Tent House

Pankaj Tent House is over on Pala Road in the Nai Abadi area. If there’s a wedding or a big party nearby, we’re usually the ones bringing the poles and the fabric. Our warehouse is full of folded tents, stacks of plastic chairs, and rolls of carpet. It’s a lot of heavy lifting. When the season is busy, our trucks are constantly moving in and out of Nai Abadi. It’s not a glamorous job. We spend a lot of time out in the sun setting things up and then taking them down again once the party is over. Sometimes the fabric gets a little dusty or a chair leg gets wobbly, but we fix things as we go. We’ve been on Pala Road for years. Most people around here just call us when they have a function. We don't have a glossy brochure. We just show people what we have in the yard. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and everyone pitches in when there’s a big event. The rainy season is usually our quiet time because nobody wants to sit in a tent then. We use that time to mend the tears and paint the poles. It’s a practical business. We’re just regular people helping other people have their celebrations. We have some bright colors and some plain ones too. Sometimes we lose a few stakes in the ground, but that’s part of the trade. The neighbors are used to seeing us loading late into the night.
