Spp Kisan Agro Producer Company Limited is based in the village of Sadista, which is part of the Onda area in Bankura. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, but this is where all the real agricultural work happens. We focus on the "Kisan" part of our name, which basically means farmer, because that is who we are at the end of the day. The office is just a simple place where we manage the collective work of the people in our village and the surrounding spots. We are in West Bengal, so you know agriculture is a big deal for us. There is always something to do, whether it’s checking on the crops or dealing with the logistics of getting things to the market. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. It’s just us, the land, and the people we work with every day. The weather can be a real pain sometimes, and prices go up and down, but we just stick together and keep going. It is a community effort more than anything else. When we started this in Sadista, we didn't have any big dreams of being famous. We just wanted a way to organize our work better. It’s practical and it’s local. Most of our conversations happen over a cup of tea in the morning before the real work starts. That is just how we do things here in Onda.
