People around here in Kantagore know where we are, right at Sankar Pal’s place in the village. It is a bit out of the way in Bhagaldighi, but that’s how it goes in Bankura. We spend most of our mornings checking the arrivals and making sure the drivers know where they are going. The office isn't much to look at, just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of logbooks that seem to pile up no matter how much we write. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, so we usually have the fan going full blast. Sometimes the power cuts out, and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. Dealing with cement means there is always a thin layer of grey dust on the windowsills. We don’t really mind it much anymore. It is just part of the daily routine here at Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd. We have been at this address for a while now, tucked away near the local school. Most of the staff are from nearby, so we walk or take a cycle to get in. There isn't any fancy lobby or anything like that. Just us working through the piles of delivery notes and talking to the local builders who stop by to check on their orders. We try to keep things simple and just get the work finished before the sun goes down. It’s a quiet life in this part of West Bengal, but we stay busy enough.
