Amar Jyot Vidhyalay

Way out in Katarwa, which is near Deesa, you’ll find Amar Jyot Vidhyalay. We are right in the heart of the village area. It’s a quiet place compared to the bigger towns in Banaskantha. We have a simple building that sits on a bit of open land. Most of our students are from the village or the small farms around here. They walk to school, and some of them come on old cycles. We don't have fancy uniforms or big buses. Everything here is very practical. The classrooms have the basic stuff—benches, a board, and a place for the teacher to sit. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place clean because the wind brings in a lot of sand from the fields. The teachers are mostly local people too. They understand the families here and the kind of lives they lead. We don't have a big website or do any advertising. People in Katarwa know us because we’ve been here for years. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. Sometimes a cow or two might wander near the gate, and we just shoo them away. We do our best to teach the kids what they need to know. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s a good one. We just take things one day at a time and try to keep the school running smoothly for the community. That is all we really do here.
