If you come down to Village Narayanpur and look for House Number 4, you’ll find where we run our vegetable group. It’s a pretty standard setup where local farmers bring in what they’ve harvested from their plots. We mostly deal with the usual greens and vegetables that grow well in this soil. It’s a lot of work getting everything sorted and making sure nothing sits out in the sun too long. We aren't a large corporation or anything, just some people from the village who realized that selling our vegetables together works out better than everyone going it alone. Sometimes the rains make the roads a bit difficult, but we manage to get the produce where it needs to go. We keep our books at the house and meet there to discuss prices or who needs help with their planting. It’s a bit crowded in the office when everyone shows up at once, especially during the peak season when the tomatoes or okra are coming in fast. We don’t use any fancy systems, just a lot of notebooks and a fair bit of talking to get things done. It feels good to see the trucks loaded up and heading out. We’re just trying to keep the farms here in Balrampur going so people can take care of their families. It’s honest work, even if it’s tiring and the days are long during harvest time. We just do the best we can.
