Baksa Block Farmer Producer Company Limited

Baksa is where we call home. Specifically, we are over in the Barimukh village near Mushalpur. Dharmeswar Lahary lets us use his place as a base for Baksa Block Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s a simple setup. We are a bunch of local farmers who live and work in this block. Being out here means we are close to the land we till every day. We don't have a big staff or anything like that. It’s just us and our families. We grow what the season allows and try to make sure everyone in the group is doing okay. Sometimes the harvests are good, and sometimes they aren't, but that’s just how farming goes. We talk about the crops over tea and figure out how to get things to the market without too much trouble. Mushalpur is the main spot around here, so we are often back and forth between the village and the town. The work is physical and it’s constant. There’s always a fence to fix or a field to prep. We don't spend much time in an office because there’s too much to do outside. We know the names of everyone’s kids and which fields have the best drainage. It’s a tight community. We just want to keep farming like our parents did, but maybe with a bit more cooperation among ourselves. It’s a quiet life, but it’s ours, and we stick together.
