Baksa Mushalpur Farmers Producer Company Limited is situated in Village Bhogpara. Our mail goes to the post office at Narayanpurbaksa. This is a quiet corner of the Baksa district where agriculture is the main way people get by. We aren't a big corporation with offices in the city. We are just a group of neighbors who wanted to see if we could do things better together. Most of our members are small-scale farmers who have a few acres of land. We grow mostly rice because that is what grows best here. We also have some members doing citrus and other fruits. The work is physically demanding. You are always watching the sky for rain. Sometimes we have meetings in the village to talk about buying fertilizers together to save some money. It isn't always easy to get everyone to agree on things, but we manage. We have a small shed where we keep some shared equipment. It’s usually a bit of a mess in there with tools and half-empty sacks of grain. We don't have a secretary or anyone like that. We do our own books and hope we didn't miss a zero somewhere. It’s just honest work. We wake up early and go to bed tired. That’s how life is for us in Bhogpara. We just hope for a good harvest and decent prices for the stuff we work so hard to grow.
