Deujora Agro Producer Company Limited is situated in Vill-Ulubari. Our post office is Dhanbil and we fall under Mushalpur in the Baksa district. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren’t from around the Kokrajhar area, but we like the peace and quiet. We’ve been running this agro business as a collective. It’s not just one boss calling all the shots; it’s more about the people from Ulubari working together. We deal with the usual crops that grow well in this part of Assam. Our days are mostly spent checking on the progress of the fields and making sure everyone has what they need to keep working. The office is just a small place where we keep our ledgers and some seeds. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights. Most people just know us by word of mouth. Sometimes the work is hard, especially when the seasons change and we have to move fast. But we’ve got a good rhythm going. We don’t use any of those big corporate words to describe what we do. We just grow things and try to sell them for a decent price so everyone gets paid. It’s a simple way of living, and it works for us here in Baksa.
