Pallawankur Nurseries

Our place is at Plot Number 279 in Sukul Samarth Nagar. It’s basically a big piece of land filled with plastic pots and bags of soil. Pallawankur Nurseries is where we spend most of our time with our hands in the dirt. We have rows and rows of saplings, some in the shade and some out in the full sun. It’s not a landscaped garden; it’s a working nursery. There are pipes running everywhere for the water, and sometimes they leak and make little puddles. We grow a bit of everything, from small flowering plants to bigger trees that take two people to carry. The air always smells like wet earth and fertilizer. We don't have a fancy office, just a small shed where we keep the tools and the ledger. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a break under the big neem tree. We don't use a lot of technology here. Most of the work is done by hand, pulling weeds and checking for bugs. When people come by, they usually have questions about why their plants are dying at home. We tell them what we know based on what we see every day. It’s tiring work and our clothes are always stained with mud. But the plants keep growing, so we keep at it. Most of the neighbors know us because we’ve been here at Plot 279 for quite a while now.
