Jagdamba Brick Supply

Jagdamba Brick Supply is situated right opposite the Daultabad Fort. It is a famous spot, so people usually don't have a hard time finding us in Daulatabad. We have a view of the old walls every single day while we work. The yard is usually filled with stacks of finished bricks waiting for the tractors to arrive. We get a lot of local builders coming through. The ground here is quite hard, which is good for storage. We spend a lot of our time checking the batches that come out of the kiln. Not every brick is perfect; some get a bit too much heat and others not enough. We sort them out by hand. It’s a tiring job but we have been doing it for years now. The laborers are mostly from the surrounding villages and they know the trade well. Daulatabad can get very dusty, especially when the wind picks up across the open fields near the fort. We usually have tea together under the shade of a small neem tree near the entrance. It’s the only place to get away from the sun for a bit. We don’t do much advertising. Most people just know our name because we have been in this spot for so long. When the sun sets behind the fort, we lock up the main gate and head home. It is a simple routine that hasn't changed much since my uncle started the business back in the day.
