Apna Bricks

We are over in the Deo CD Block area. Our spot is quite close to the Dev Surya Mandir. You can hear the bells and the chanting from the temple when the wind blows the right way. It’s a busy part of the district. During festivals, the roads get completely blocked with people and stalls. We have to plan our deliveries around those times. Apna Bricks is just a small local operation. We have a few sheds and a big area where we dry the bricks. The soil here is decent for making them. We have a crew of local workers who live nearby. Most of them have been doing this for years. We don't have fancy equipment. We use what we have and we make it work. It’s a lot of manual labor, digging and mixing and stacking. Sometimes the kiln doesn't fire just right and we have to start over. It’s frustrating but that is part of the job. We don't talk about missions or visions. We just talk about getting the orders ready on time. People from the village come by to ask for advice on their small projects. We help out where we can. It’s a community thing. We are just glad to be working and keeping the business going year after year in Deo. We try to be reliable and keep things simple.
