I.K. Industries

I.K. Industries is out here at Gut No 40, Plot No 18/19. We are part of the Ramnagar Industrial Societies in Karodi. If you’re coming from the MIDC Valuj side, it’s not too far, but the roads can be a bit rough depending on the season and the rain. It’s a proper industrial setting. We have the workshop where most of the heavy lifting happens. There is always the smell of metal and oil in the air which you get used to after a day or two. We’ve been working out of this spot for a long time. The village of Karodi is right nearby, so some of the guys walk to work every morning. It’s a practical operation. We don’t have fancy carpets or glass walls. It’s mostly just bricks, mortar, and machinery. We spend our days looking at designs and then trying to get the metal to do what we want. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the morning fixing them. That’s just part of the job. People in the neighboring plots are doing similar work, so we often borrow tools or help each other out if a truck gets stuck in the mud. It’s a busy atmosphere with a lot of noise during the shift. We usually have lunch together in the small break area behind the main shed. It’s simple work but it requires a lot of attention so we don't make mistakes.
