Captan Colour Home

If you’re walking down Police Station Road in Nirala Bazar, you’ll see our shop right across from Bharati Hospital. It’s a busy spot with people coming and going all the time. Being near a hospital means there’s always noise and traffic, but we got used to it. Inside Captan Colour Home, it’s mostly shelves filled with cans. Some are big, some are small. We spend a lot of time mixing colors for people who bring in a scrap of paper or a piece of cloth. It gets messy sometimes. There’s usually some paint on the floor near the mixing area that won't come off. We open early because the morning light is better for looking at shades. A lot of the neighbors drop in just to chat or ask for advice on their house projects. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is. The counter is usually covered in color cards and receipt books. Sometimes the fans don't do enough to keep the heat out, so we stand near the door. It’s a simple life. We like being in Nirala Bazar. It feels like we’re part of the neighborhood’s daily rhythm. When the sun goes down, the lights from the hospital reflect in our windows. We just lock up and do it all again tomorrow. It is what it is, just a local spot for color.
