Tpalur Farmers Producer Company Limited is situated in the Ariyalur-Perambalur area. Our specific spot is at No 2-173 (2) on Kovil Street in Saveriyarpatti. It’s out in Naduvalur, specifically the Parukkal (East) part. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but it’s right where the farming happens. We are just a group of local people who decided to work together. Tpalur is the name we use for the paperwork. Most of the time, we’re out in the dirt or checking on the equipment. The office on Kovil Street is where we keep the records. It’s an old building but it does the job. We don’t have air conditioning or anything like that. Just some ceiling fans that click when they turn. We talk to the farmers about the monsoon and the soil. It’s practical talk, not business school stuff. We try to help with getting the crops to the market without too much trouble. Sometimes the roads are bad and the trucks get delayed, but we deal with it as it comes. It’s a local operation through and through. Everyone knows everyone else's business, which can be good and bad. We just want to keep the farms running and make sure people can stay on their land. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset most days of the week.
