Jayankondam Collective Farming Producer Company Limited

We are over at No 134A, Main Road North Street in Meensurutti. This area is right in Ariyalur, near Thanjavur. Jayankondam Collective Farming Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of local farmers trying to work together. It gets pretty busy around here, especially when the season changes. We decided to set this up so we could handle things as a group instead of everyone struggling on their own. The office is right there on the main road, so people drop by all the time. Sometimes it is quiet, other times everyone is talking at once about the crops or the weather. It is not some big fancy setup with glass walls or anything like that. Just a plain building where we keep the records and meet up. Most of us have been farming around here for a long time. We know the soil and we know how hard the sun gets. By forming this collective, we share the load. It makes sense for the families living around Meensurutti. If you are walking down North Street, you will see our sign. There is usually a tractor or a bike parked outside. We spend most of the day dealing with the practical side of things, like seeds and what needs to be done next. It’s hard work, but being part of a group helps out a lot. We are all in this together, just taking things one day at a time here in Meensurutti.
