Damani Dyestuff Ltd. takes up three plots—174, 175, and 176—over in the A-2 section. Having that much space is a blessing because dyestuff work can get pretty messy if you don’t have room to spread out. You can usually tell we’re here by the colors you might see on the floor or near the drains. It’s part of the trade, really. We’ve been working out of these plots for a long time. The buildings are connected by some covered walkways we put up so we don't get soaked during the monsoon. It’s a big operation for us, but it still feels like a family business. Most of the staff have been living in the surrounding area for decades. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets in the office, just the basics to keep the accounts in order. The real work happens out back where the vats are. It’s hot and humid most days, so we drink a lot of water and take breaks when we can. We aren't looking to be the biggest company in the world, just to keep things running smooth and keep our customers happy with the colors we make. The gate needs a new coat of paint, and the sign is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows where we are. It’s home for us and it keeps us busy.
