Bolani is a small spot in Orissa, and our office at Qtr.No : E6/28 is right in the heart of it. We work for Steel Authority Of India Limited, mostly looking after the mining operations nearby. It is a hot place, and the humidity can be a real pain during the summer months. Our setup is very straightforward. We do not have a receptionist or a lobby. People just knock on the door and come in. We spend our time checking on the machinery and making sure the ore is being moved out like it should. The town is small enough that you cannot go anywhere without seeing someone you know from work. It is a simple life. We eat at the local canteen and spend our evenings sitting outside when it is cool enough. There are plenty of challenges, like when the equipment breaks down or the rains make the pits too muddy to work in. We do not complain much, though. It is just part of the job. We have been here for a long time and we have seen the town change, but the work stays the same. We are just a group of people doing our part to keep the iron moving out of Bolani. It is nothing fancy, just a steady life in a mining town where everyone knows your name and your business.
