Verinag Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited has its roots in several spots like Baghwan Pora and Bona Gund in the Verinag and Anantnag areas. We also have a connection over in Nambal, Baramulla. It’s a bit of a spread-out operation because our farmers are located in different pockets of the region. Verinag is famous for its spring, and the water there is really great for the crops we grow. We are just a bunch of local people trying to organize the farming a bit better so we don't lose money. Our main base is in the 192125 area. Dealing with agriculture in these parts means you have to be ready for anything. The weather changes fast here. One day it’s sunny, the next day it’s pouring rain or snowing. We spend a lot of time traveling between the different plots and checking on how things are growing. It’s a lot of driving on bumpy, dusty roads. The office in Baghwan Pora is where we keep the empty bags and the tools. It’s usually a bit dusty and smells like the earth, but that’s fine with us. We aren't trying to be some big national brand with commercials. We just want the farmers in Anantnag and Baramulla to have a place where they can bring their stuff and get a fair deal. We talk to the elders and the young guys just starting out in the fields. It’s a mix of old ways and new ideas.
