Pavani Metal

Our place, Pavani Metal, is at Dr.No. 4-116 in the Official Colony. We are right opposite the Can Bridge School, so we hear the school bell and the kids shouting during their breaks all day. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a metal business, being on the back side of the college ground, but it works for us. The space is filled with different kinds of metal pieces, and there’s always a bit of a clanging sound when we’re moving things around. The ground behind us is often busy with students playing cricket or football, and sometimes a ball ends up in our yard. We have a small office area, but most of the time we are outside in the shed area. The walls are a bit stained from the metal dust, and our clothes usually end up the same way by the end of the shift. We don't have any big signs, just the address on the gate. It’s a quiet enough neighborhood otherwise, and we know most of the people who walk past every day. We spend a lot of time measuring things and writing down weights on scraps of paper. It’s just a small operation with a few of us doing the heavy lifting. When the school day ends and the streets get quiet, we usually start tidying up the scrap piles and getting ready for the next morning.
