Our little company is based out in Kudtipalem Village. We operate from the house of Arava Venkaiah at number 32. It’s a quiet village where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We focus on seafood, which in this part of the world usually means dealing with the local catch and getting it ready for the market. Being an OPC, it’s a small, one-person led operation with some help from the locals. The atmosphere is very relaxed compared to the big cities. You won't find any glass buildings here. We mostly work out of the porch or a small room in the house. The smells of the village and the nearby water are always there. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the guys who bring in the fish. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the quality of what we get. Life in Kudtipalem moves slow, but we have to move fast when the fresh stock arrives. We don’t have any big advertisements or a fancy website. Most of our work comes from word of mouth and long-standing relationships with people in the trade. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We just try to get the seafood where it needs to go without too much fuss. If you’re ever in the village, just ask for Arava Venkaiah’s place and someone will point you in the right direction.
