Sharma Devi Kanya Inter College is right in the middle of Moh Niyazan Jatt Bazar here in Amroha. If you know the area, you know how busy the market gets, especially in the mornings when all the girls are heading to class. The building has been here for a while now and it shows its age in some spots, but that is just how it is. We spend most of our days dealing with the usual stuff like keeping the registers updated and making sure the classrooms are somewhat tidy before the first bell rings. It gets pretty loud when everyone is in the hallways, but once lessons start, things settle down a bit. There is always someone at the gate checking people in. Some days the fans don't work as well as they should and it gets hot, but the teachers just keep going. It is not some fancy place with air conditioning everywhere. It’s just a regular school for the local girls. We have our fair share of broken desks and peeling paint on the walls, but the kids don't seem to mind much. They just want to get through their exams. Most of us have been working here for years and we know the families around the neighborhood quite well.
