Mohan International Hotel

If you find yourself on Albert Road here in Amritsar, you'll see us. The building has been standing here for some years now, and the 143001 pin code is a busy area to be in. We aren't trying to be something we're not. It’s a hotel where people come to sleep and get ready for their day in the city. The mornings are usually the loudest time because everyone wants their tea at once. We have a couple of guys who have worked here since the doors opened, and they know every creak in the floorboards. The lobby isn't huge, but there’s enough space to sit while you wait. We spend a lot of time talking to the vegetable vendors and the laundry guys who come by every afternoon. Sometimes the traffic on Albert Road gets backed up, and you can hear the horns from the front rooms, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We keep the registers by hand mostly, and there’s always a newspaper sitting on the front desk. It's a practical place. We don't spend money on big signs or bright lights. We just keep the lights on and make sure the doors are locked at night. It’s hard work running a hotel, but it keeps us busy and we like the people who stop by. We often have to fix the latch on the main gate and oil the hinges so they don't squeak too much.
