Gurukul Tution Centre

If you walk down Gali Sato Wali in Katra Karam Singh, you’ll find us at number 257/8. This part of Amritsar is very old and the lanes are narrow. Gurukul Tution Centre has been operating from this small building for quite some time now. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but once you get used to the turns, it is easy to find. I usually get here early to set up the benches. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they are covered with charts and maps anyway. There’s a lot of chatter from the neighbors and the sound of scooters passing by outside the door. We don't have a big sign, just a simple board so people know they are at the right place. Most of the kids who come here live just a few streets away, so they walk or ride their cycles. In the winter, it stays cool inside, but summers are a different story. We try to keep the water cooler filled up because everyone gets thirsty after their walk through the gali. It’s a simple setup where we focus on what needs to be done for the exams. There are no big offices or reception areas, just the rooms where the teaching happens. The neighbors are friendly and we all know each other here. We’ve had many groups of students pass through these doors over the years, and the routine stays pretty much the same day after day.
