S. R. Impex

Our place is at Shop No. 2 in Sai Baba Market, specifically on Gali Sita Ram. It’s a bit of a maze back here in the market, but once you find Gali Sita Ram, we aren't hard to spot. We do impex work, which means a lot of boxes coming in and a lot of boxes going out. The market is always crowded, and the lane is quite narrow, so getting goods delivered can be a real struggle sometimes. We have to time it just right or we end up blocking the whole path. Inside, the shop is mostly storage and a small desk where we handle the documents. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure the counts are right. It’s a lot of physical work, moving things around to find what we need. The neighbors are mostly other shopkeepers who have been here as long as we have. We all know each other’s business. It’s a noisy, busy atmosphere every single day. There’s always someone shouting for a rickshaw or unloading a cart nearby. We don't have any air conditioning, so the summer months are pretty tough, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. We don't really do anything fancy to attract attention. We just open up, do the work, and close when the market starts to quiet down in the late evening.
