Computer World

Our shop, Computer World, is inside the Amber Palace on Mall Road, not too far from Company Bagh. It is a bit of a walk up if the lift is acting up again. The place is usually full of old towers and boxes of motherboards that we haven't got around to sorting yet. We spend most of our time hunched over desks with tiny screwdrivers. It gets quite dusty because of all the fans running in the machines. People bring in their laptops with cracked screens or spilled tea, and we do what we can to get their data back. The light in the shop is a bit dim but we have some desk lamps for the tricky soldering jobs. We keep a small kettle in the back for making tea when the weather gets cold. Mall Road is always noisy with cars and people, but inside it is mostly the sound of clicking keyboards. Sometimes we have to wait a week for a part to arrive from the city, and we just have to tell the customers to be patient. It is not a fancy showroom with glass cases. It is more of a workshop where we actually get our hands dirty. We have been in this same spot for years, so most of the local office workers know us by name. It is just regular work, fixing things and helping people with their tech troubles every day.
