Angels Paradise School

You can find Angels Paradise School over at 5-B, Old Jail Road, which is in the Basant Avenue area of Amritsar. It’s a fairly well-known spot in this part of the city. The school has a tall gate and a brick exterior that has seen better days, but it’s solid. In the mornings, the traffic on Old Jail Road can be a bit much, but inside the school walls, it’s mostly just the sound of kids talking and the bell ringing. We have a playground that is basically just a flat patch of ground where the kids play cricket or run around during their breaks. Amritsar has some very hot days, so the classrooms can get a bit stuffy, but we have big windows that we open to let the air in. The teachers have their own little corner where they eat their lunch and talk about their own families. We don’t use a lot of fancy technology here; it’s mostly just books, paper, and pens. Every now and then, we have to fix a desk or paint a door, as things tend to wear out with so many people using them. The students come from the surrounding neighborhoods like Basant Avenue, so many of them walk or come by rickshaw. It’s a straightforward place with a simple routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We just show up, do our work, and go home. There is always a stray cat or two hanging around the back gate.
