Saraswati Vidya Mandir

We’ve been here in Chital for a long time now. It’s a quiet spot in the Amreli district, and most folks around here know where we are. The school building isn't anything fancy, just a place where kids from the village and nearby areas come to spend their day. You can see the gate from the main road. Most mornings start early with the sound of students arriving on bicycles or walking down the dusty paths. We spend a lot of time cleaning up the playground because the wind picks up a lot of sand in this part of Gujarat. Inside the classrooms, it’s mostly just rows of desks and old chalkboards that have seen better days. The teachers are usually busy with stacks of notebooks, trying to keep up with the grading. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so the fans are always going full speed. People in Chital drop by often to ask about their kids or just to say hello. We don’t have a big office or anything, just a few rooms and a hallway that stays busy between bells. It’s just how things are here at Saraswati Vidya Mandir. There is always someone fixing a desk or painting a wall during the summer break. We keep the water coolers filled because the sun really beats down on us. It’s a simple life, focused on the books and the kids growing up in this corner of Amreli.
