Mehta Marbles

We are located over in the G.I.D.C. area on the road through Kumbhari. This part of Banaskantha is known for its stone work, and we fit right in with the other shops and factories here. Talik and Dant are nearby too. It’s an industrial vibe, so there are always tractors and trucks moving around on the G.I.D.C. Road. Our yard is filled with marble slabs that we bring in and sort through. It isn't a very quiet place because of all the loading and the sound of the nearby units. We keep things pretty simple in the office. Just a couple of ledgers and a phone that rings quite a bit. My family has been involved in this for a long time. We don't bother with expensive brochures or anything like that. People come to us because they know we are here in Kumbhari and we have been here for years. The dust is a part of life here, and everything has a thin layer of it by the end of the day. We usually have tea with the customers while they look at the different batches of stone. It’s a slow process sometimes, picking out the right pieces, but we don’t mind. It’s better to take the time and get it right. We close up when the streetlights come on and the industrial area starts to quiet down for the night. It's just a normal way to work.
