Anupama Saloon

Down here in Kothamangalam, the bazaar is always full of people. Our saloon is on A M Road, right in the heart of things in Ernakulam. It is a simple shop with a few chairs and mirrors that have been here since we opened. We start early because people like to get their hair trimmed before they head to work or open their own shops in the market. You can hear the buses honking outside and the sound of people haggling over prices just a few feet away. Inside, it is mostly the sound of scissors and the radio playing some local songs. We do a lot of shaves and standard haircuts. Nothing too complicated. Most of the men who come in are regulars who have been coming to us for years. They like to sit and talk about the news or what is happening in the district. The floor is usually covered in hair until we get a quiet minute to sweep it up. We have those old-fashioned spray bottles and a few jars of cream on the counter. It gets pretty humid in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. It is not a fancy place with air conditioning and soft music, but it is a place where you can get a decent cut and a bit of conversation. We have been at 686691 for a long time, and we do not plan on going anywhere else.
