R S Travels

You can find us at R S Travels inside the Subham Complex. We are in the same building as the ICICI Bank, right on N S Road. The location is pretty hard to miss because we are directly opposite the Bhutan Gate in Jaigaon. Being that close to the border means it’s always loud and crowded outside. If you stand out front, you are right opposite Bhutan Gate, which is why the traffic is so heavy. We spend our days arranging cars and helping people figure out how to get across or where to go next. The office is small and filled with papers and maps. We have a couple of phones that don't seem to stop ringing during the peak season. Sometimes there are delays with the permits or the traffic at the gate is backed up, and we have to explain that to everyone. It’s a lot of coordination. We’ve been in this building for years, watching the trucks and tourists go back and forth. We don't use fancy booking software for everything; a lot of it is just written down in ledgers or handled over a quick call to one of our drivers. It's a bit chaotic, but we know how the system works here. If you come by, you might have to wait a minute while we finish a conversation on the other line. We just do our job and try to keep the cars moving.
