Keerti Handicraft is tucked away on Circular Road in a small lane called Sakka Gali. If you aren't looking for it, you might walk right past the entrance. It’s a small space where we do all our work by hand. There are piles of materials in the corners—mostly wood, fabric, and tools that we use every day. It’s not a clean or organized showroom. It’s a workshop. You’ll see sawdust on the floor and bits of thread everywhere. We spend most of our hours sitting on low stools or on the floor, working on various pieces. Each thing we make takes time and we don't like to rush it. The lighting in Sakka Gali isn't great, so we rely on the bulbs we’ve strung up over our work areas. It can get quite cramped when we have a lot of orders to finish. People who find us usually heard about us from someone else in the neighborhood. We don't do much advertising. We just focus on the craft and hope the quality speaks for itself. It’s a quiet kind of life here on Circular Road, away from the main traffic. Sometimes the neighborhood kids peek in to see what we are making. We are just local people keeping a traditional craft going in our own small way. It is hard work, but we like it.
