Brothers Driving School

If you go to Puthiyakavu in Mavelikara, you will find our small office for Brothers Driving School. We have been helping people in the Alappuzha district learn how to handle a steering wheel for a long time. It is a humble place, mostly just a room with some chairs and a desk where we handle the license forms. Our cars are parked outside, and they have the red 'L' stickers on the glass. We spend most of the day sitting in the passenger seat, telling people to watch their mirrors and go slow on the curves. The roads here can get quite narrow, especially when the big buses pass by. We know every pothole in Mavelikara by now. It’s not an easy job because people get very stressed when they are behind the wheel for the first time. We try to keep things calm and just talk them through the gear changes. The office doesn’t have fancy air conditioning, just the breeze from the open door. We have a lot of old photos on the wall of past students who finally got their license. It makes the place feel like a real part of the community. We don't do much advertising. People just hear about us from their cousins or neighbors and show up at the door. We stay open until the sun goes down and then we head home ourselves. It is simple work but it keeps us busy every day of the week.
