Surya Battery is right on the main stretch of Prithviraj Marg. It’s a very public spot, so we see all sorts of people walking and driving by every single day. The shop itself is pretty basic. We have rows of batteries lining the walls and a small counter where we do the testing. It gets quite hot in the summer because the sun hits the front of the building for hours, but we just deal with it. We handle everything from small motorcycle batteries to the big ones they use for trucks. It’s a lot of dirty work, and we usually have grease under our fingernails. We don't have any polished sales pitches or anything like that. If a battery is dead, we tell you it's dead. If it can be saved, we try to save it. We’ve been on Prithviraj Marg long enough that we feel like a permanent fixture of the street. It’s a family business, really. My brother and I run the show, and we don't have any fancy hierarchy. We just open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait for the first customer. It’s a steady kind of life. We don't have a website or do any of that modern stuff. People just know where we are. We provide a needed service and we do it honestly, which is enough for us and the folks around here. We just keep our heads down and work.
