If you head over toward Agra Gate and find Ambedkar Colony, that’s where you’ll find our setup. It’s a regular neighborhood, so we see the same faces every day when we’re moving the equipment around. Water supply is one of those jobs where you don’t really have an off switch. People call at all hours, and we do what we can to keep up with it. The yard stays pretty busy with the containers and the hoses being moved about. It’s a lot of manual labor, dragging things back and forth and making sure everything is sealed up right. I usually spend my mornings checking the equipment to make sure nothing is leaking. The air around here is usually thick with the smell of the road and the sound of the neighborhood waking up. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the heavy stuff. The office is really just a corner of the main building where we keep the records and a pot of tea. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find fancy furniture or carpets. We’re mostly in our work clothes, covered in a bit of mud or dust depending on the weather. Sometimes when the rain comes, the whole yard gets a bit messy, but we just work through it. By the time we finish the last delivery and coil up the hoses, the sun is usually low. It’s a tiring day, every day.
