Shree Rangoli

We are located just outside Ghas Katla in Naya Bazar. It’s a spot that gets a lot of foot traffic, especially during the festival seasons. Our main thing is rangoli colors. You’ll see bags of bright powders everywhere if you step inside. Red, yellow, green—it gets all over our clothes by the end of the shift. We spend a lot of time weighing out small portions into plastic packets. The floor is never just one color; it’s usually a mix of whatever spilled that morning. It’s a small shop and we have to stack the bags pretty high to fit everything in. Sometimes the wind blows the powder around and we all end up sneezing. We don’t have any polished sales talk. We just show people the shades we have and let them pick what they like. Naya Bazar is a busy place, so there’s always something happening right outside the door. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a bag has a tiny hole, we tape it up and keep going. It’s a colorful business but it’s also quite messy. Most of our regulars know us by name. We don’t bother with big advertisements or anything like that. People just know where we are when they need to make their porch look nice for a holiday. We just stay busy and keep the colors moving. It's a nice way to spend the day, really.
