Deepak Chalni Wala

Deepak Chalni Wala is right in the middle of Madar Gate in Mundari Mohhalla. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded and loud it gets. We spend our time working with sifters and sieves of all kinds. It is what our family has done for a long time. The shop is small and sometimes it feels a bit cramped with all the metal mesh and frames stacked up against the walls. We don't have fancy displays or air conditioning. You just walk in from the street and see what we have on the shelves. Most people coming through Madar Gate are looking for something practical for their kitchen or their farm. We see a lot of the same faces every week. It’s a tight-knit spot here in the mohalla. The noise from the market outside is constant but we don't mind it much. We usually open up early and stay until the sun goes down. Sometimes we just sit and talk with the shopkeepers next door when things are slow. It isn't a complicated business. We just make sure we have enough stock for whoever walks through the door. The floors are a bit uneven and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it feels like home to us. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for years and we just keep doing our thing. It's just a simple life here in the middle of the busy city streets.
