We are over at Madar Gate in the Kavandas Pura area. It is a part of town that has a lot of history and the streets can get quite narrow and crowded. The shop is a small place but it serves the people who live and work around here. We don’t have a big sign or anything like that, just the door open to the street. Inside, you will find the usual setup with the chairs and the combs. It can get a bit stuffy when the sun is beating down on Madar Gate, so we keep the door open to catch whatever breeze comes through Kavandas Pura. Most of the time, we are just busy with the locals who want a regular haircut or a clean shave. We have some old mirrors that show their age a bit, but they do the job just fine. There is always a bit of chatter going on about what’s happening in the neighborhood. We don’t use any complicated equipment, just our hands and the tools we’ve had for years. The floor is concrete and we sweep it out several times a day to keep the hair from piling up. It’s not a place where you come for anything fancy, just a straightforward haircut from people who have been doing this for a long time. It’s a quiet life in a busy neighborhood and we like it that way.
