Our building, Swagat, is right in the middle of all that action. We’ve been in the gold and diamond business for a long time, but we try to keep things grounded. The office is busy, with people coming in for valuations or to look at new designs. It’s not just about the shiny stuff in the cases; there’s a lot of back-office work too. We have people staring at ledgers and dealing with suppliers all day. The atmosphere is professional but not stiff. We know our regulars by their first names and often spend time just chatting about their families over a cup of tea. Being on such a major road means there is always noise from the traffic outside, but inside we try to keep things focused. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just buy and sell jewelry and bullion. It’s a traditional business at its heart. The desks are often cluttered with loupes, scales, and receipt books. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just focus on being accurate with our weights and fair with our prices. It’s a steady, daily grind that we’ve grown quite fond of over the years.
